It provides sweetness without any noticeable off-flavours, making it a versatile sugar substitute in a wide range of food and beverage products. Sucralose is non-caloric and does not raise blood sugar levels, making it suitable for individuals with diabetes or those following low-calorie or low-carbohydrate diets. It passes through the body without being metabolised, so it does not contribute to energy intake or affect insulin levels.

950 (Acesulfame potassium) An artificial sweetener that is 200 times sweeter than sucrose (table sugar), used in a variety of food and beverage products as a sugar substitute. It provides sweetness without contributing to calorie intake. Acesulfame potassium has a sweet taste similar to sucrose (table sugar) but with a slightly quicker onset of sweetness and a longer-lasting aftertaste. It can have a slightly bitter or metallic aftertaste at high concentrations, which is why it is often used in combination with other sweeteners to improve taste profile. Acesulfame potassium is non-caloric and does not raise blood sugar levels, making it suitable for individuals with diabetes or those following low-calorie or low-carbohydrate diets. It passes through the body without being metabolized, so it does not contribute to energy intake or affect insulin levels.

Why do we use Green Tea (Camellia sinensis) instead of Black Tea

All our Tub Power Teas contain Freeze-dried Pure Green Tea, made from the leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant, which is rich in antioxidants, which are compounds that help protect the body from oxidative stress and free radicals. The primary antioxidants found in green tea include;

Theanine - An amino acid that is not an antioxidant but contributes to the unique flavour of green tea and has been studied for its potential relaxing and calming effects.

Catechins - These are a type of polyphenol and are considered some of the most potent antioxidants in green tea. The main catechins in green tea are;

  • Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG): The most studied catechin, known for its health benefits, including anti-inflammatory, anti-carcinogenic, and anti-microbial properties.
  • Epigallocatechin (EGC)
  • Epicatechin gallate (ECG)
  • Epicatechin (EC)
  • Flavonoids: Besides catechins, green tea contains other flavonoids, which contribute to its antioxidant properties and health benefits.

The high concentration of catechins, especially EGCG, is what makes green tea particularly noted for its health benefits, including reducing the risk of heart disease, aiding in weight loss, and potentially lowering the risk of certain types of cancer. The antioxidant capacity of green tea is believed to be higher than that of black tea because of the difference in processing; green tea leaves are steamed, which prevents the catechins from oxidising, whereas black tea is fermented, causing catechins to convert into other compounds.
